I like the big outrageous flowers of late summer: Canna 'Bengal Tiger', Datura inoxia, Ipomoea ' Blue Picotee', Amarcrinum x powellii, Ipomoea alba
They stand out so clearly amidst the chaotic explosion of vegetative growth that we experience here during the summer. I make my way through the garden haltingly using these flowers as referents and waystations.
