Clathrus columnatus?....those eggs are what the aliens throw out of the spaceship

Then they hatch and the foul-smelling stinkhorn fungus hatches and grows out of the egg. Not really.

Neal and Amanda found these odd stinkhorns yesterday in the Hamamelis collection. They smell much worse than the more common Dog Stinkhorn.
