I don't know if this is photoperiodically mediated or not. I remember first working in a greenhouse with tropicals and being impressed that the Spathiphyllums and Citrus initiated bud formation immediately after the days began to get longer. Some tropical are ruled by daylength, more, I think, by moisture.

Alocasia portadora....things are starting to happen in Brad's tropical greenhouse
