Anemone quinquefolia, a double-flowered form in Fern Valley
I walked into Fern Valley this afternoon in spite of the gloom. It's beautiful. There are drifts, colonies, flowers everywhere. Virginia bluebells, Trilliums of all sorts, various Dicentra, Phlox of all sorts, Columbines, and more.
This colony has been growing near the entrance across from the Parking lot for years and it's getting sizable. It's very uncommon in the trade but ought not to be. In the 7 years I've been watching it, it's increased ten-fold.

The advantages of space cannot be underestimated. It's hard to imagine a "drift" of anything in my modestly-sized back garden. That anemone is lovely and I agree it should be more common...new career, Chris?
